Translation of the fifth-ten stanzas of Maqsurat ibn Dureid (مقصورة ابن دريد)

عربية - فَاِستَنزَلَ الزَبّاءَ قَسراً وَهـيَ مِـن عُقابِ لَوحِ الجَـوِّ أَعلـى مُنتَمـى

English - So he forcibly took down Zabbah, while she was among the eagles of the exosphere.

Yoruba - Ówà sọ̀ Zàbbáh kálẹ̀ ní típá, lẹ̀yin tí Zàbbáh tí wà pẹlú àwọn ẹ̀yẹ́ àṣá láàyè tó gá jùlọ nínú áfẹ̀fẹ̀.

عربية - وَسَيـفٌ اِستَعلَـت بِــهِ هِمَّـتُـه حَتّى رَمى أَبعَـدَ شَـأوِ المُرتَمـى

English - And Seif, his tireless devotion rose with him, till he aimed at the farthest target.

Yoruba - Àtí Seifu tí àgbíyèlè rẹ gá pẹ̀lú rẹ, tí ófì gbèrò ǹkán tó jìnnà réré.

عربية - فَجَـرَّعَ الأُحبوشَ سُمّاً ناقِعاًوَاحتَلَّ مِن غمدانَ مِحرابَ الدُمى

English - He drugged the Abyssinian/Ethiopian with a concentrated poison, and landed at the sanctuary of the dummies at Gimdan.

Yoruba - Ófún Abyssíníà ní ìwọ́ mú, tí ó wá mù sọ̀ká lẹ̀ sí yàrá àwọn eré nínú ìlú Gimdán.

عربية - ثُـمَّ اِبـنُ هِنـدٍ باشَـرَت نيرانُـه يَـومَ أُوارات تَميـمـاً بِالصـلـى

English - Then, Ibn Hind approached a man of Temim with his burning flames on a sunny day.

Yoruba - Lẹ́yìn náà ní Ibn Hind gbé ẹ̀tá wàrà iná rẹ̀ kò èyán Temim kan ní ọ́jọ̀ tí òrun mú púpọ.

عربية - ما اِعتَنَّ لي يَأسٌ يُناجـي هِمَّتـي إِلّا تَـحَـدّاهُ رَجــاءٌ فَاِكـتَـمـى

English - Hopelessness had never occurred to me to berate to my determination, unless to be challenged by my hope, and vanished.

Yoruba - Íjákàn òní yọ́jú sí mí kí ómá wà sọrọ fún àgbíyèlé mí, àyà fí kí írókàn mí táa láyà, yíò sì fará pá mọ́.

عربية - أَلِـيَّـةً بِاليَعـمُـلاتِ يَـرتَـمـي بِها النجـاءُ بَيـنَ أَجـوازِ الفَـلا

English - I swear with the camels that were made for a long voyage in the midst of the desert.

Yoruba - Mó búrà pẹlú àwọn Ràkúnmí tí wọn máa ńfì yáàrá ńrìn ìrìn àjò láàrin páàpá.

عربية - خـوصٍ كَأَشبـاحِ الحَنايـا ضُمَّـر يَرعفنَ بِالأَمشاجِ مِن جَذبِ البُـرى

English - With sunken cheeks and hollow eyes , like the notched arrowheads, and lean, bleeding blood from the pulling of the bridle.

Yoruba - Ólójù kò wọ́nù ní, gẹgẹ bí àwọn ọ́rún ọ́fà,

Wọ́n tín-ín-rín tí wọn nsì ṣẹ̀jẹ̀ níbí fífà lọ́ fábọ̀ ìjánù.

عربية - يَرسُبنَ في بَحرِ الدُجى وَبِالضحـى يَطفـونَ فـي الآلِ إِذا الآلُ طَـفـا.

English - They do sink in the sea of the night, and in the morning they float in the mirage when it arise.

Yoruba - Wọn máa ńtẹ́rì sìnú odò òrú, tí óbá sí dì ìyálẹ́tá wọn máa ńlefó sínú ahúnpénà nígbà tí óbá gáà.

عربية - أَخفافُهُنَّ مِـن حَفـاً وَمِـن وَجـى مَرثومَةٌ تَخضبُ مُبيَـضَّ الحَصـى.

English - Their padded feet are fractured, from barefoot walking and from the rugged path, painting the bleached pebbles.

Yoruba - Àwọn pátákó ẹsẹ wọ́n fọ́ níbí àí kò wọ́ bàtá àti gbígbà orí ìlẹ tórùn, tí wọn wá ńkùn àwọn òkúta wẹ́wẹ̀wẹ́ fúnfún lọ́dà.

عربية - يَحمِلـنَ كُـلَّ شاحِـبٍ مُحقَوقـف مِن طولِ تـدآبِ الغُـدُوِّ وَالسُـرى.

English - They do carry every pale rider serpentined from the long habitude morning and night journeys.

Yoruba - Tí wọ́n gbé pọ̀n sẹ́yìn, gbógbó èyán tí áwọ̀ árá rẹ̀ tí gbóò tí wọ́n sì tún tẹ̀ láti ibì pípẹ̀ ìrìn àjò òwúrọ̀ atí aṣálẹ.
