Translation of the seventh-ten stanzas of Moqsurat ibn Dureid(مقصورة ابن دريد)
بَذاكَ أَم بِالخَيـلِ تَعـدو المَرطـى ناشِـزَةً أَكتادهـا قُــبَّ الكُـلـى
I swear with that or with the horses that gaits a hurry canter, revealing its withers before the stomach.
Mó búrà pẹlú ìyẹn tàbí pẹ̀lú ẹ̀ṣín tí màá ń sáré ní yáráyárá , tí ẹ̀yín ọ́rùn rẹ̀ ási má hàn ṣàjú ìnú rẹ̀.
شُعثاً تَعـادى كَسَراحيـنِ الغَضـا مَيـلَ الحَماليـقِ يُباريـنَ الشَبـا
Its hairs was disheveled, and raced like the wolves of the woods, turning its eyes and compete with the arrowheads.
Óní ìrún kùrúkùrú ní, tí màá ń sáré bí àwọn ìkókó igbó, tí yíò sì mọ́ yí ojú lọ́ bọ̀ lẹ̀ní tí nṣé ìdíje pẹlú orí ọ́fà.
يَحمِلـنَ كُـلّ شـمَّـرِيٍّ بـاسِـلٍ شَهمِ الجَنانِ خائِضٍ غَمرَ الوَغـى
They do carry every diligent, brave, strong hearted, that does fight at the centre of the war.
Wọ́n ńgbè gbógbó èyán òní ìgbìyànjú àkín tí ọkàn rẹ̀ lé, tí òní tọ̀hún kí orí bọ̀ àgbàmí ógún.
يَغشى صَلـى الحرب بِحَدَّيـهِ إِذا كانَ لَظى الحرب كَريـهَ المُصطَلـى
He do enter the fire of war with its both eyes when the flames of war is detestable of burning.
Ámà kó sínú iná ogún pẹlú ojú rẹ̀ méjèèjì nígbàtí jíjò fèrè fèrè ogún náà bá jẹ́ nkán tí ó kọ̀ láti kó.
لَو مُثِّـلَ الحَتـفُ لَـهُ قِرنـاً لَمـاصَدَّتـهُ عَنـهُ هَيبَـةٌ وَلا اِنثَنـى
If death was imagined for him as an opponent, no fear will snubbed him off from fighting it, and he will never run out.
Tí wọ́n bá fún ní ìkú làti bájà làwòrán èyán, ìbẹ̀rú kán kò ní kọ̀ fún láti jà, kó sí nì sàlọ́.
وَلَو حَمى المقـدارُ عَنـهُ مُهجَـةً لَرامَهـا أَو يَستَبيـحَ مـا حَمـى
If destiny had safeguarded his soul, he will certainly aim at it until he unveil what was saved.
Tí kádàrá bàṣọ́ ẹ̀mí kán fún, yíò lẹpá rẹ̀ títí yóò fí gbé ohùn tí ó pámọ̀ jádé láàrin àrà.
تَغـدو المَنايـا طائِعـاتٍ أَمــرَهُ تَرضى الَّذي يَرضى وَتَأبى ما أَبى
Death was obedient to him, By loving whom he loves and hating whom he hate.
Ìkú ámà tẹlé àṣẹ rẹ̀, yíò má yọ̀nú sí ẹ̀ní tí ó yọ̀nú sí, yíò sì máa kórìrá ẹ̀ní tí ó kórìrá.
بَل قَسَماً بِالشُمِّ مِـن يَعـرُبَ هَـل لِمُقسـمٍ مِـن بَعـدِ هَـذا مُنتَهـى
Or rather, I should swear with the nobles in the family of Ya'rub, Is there another highest limit for a swearer after this?
Àbí kìn búrà pẹlú àwọn ẹ̀nígígá nínú ìdílé Yà'rúbù, ǹjẹ́ òpin gígá míràn ńbẹ́ fún ólùbúrá lẹyìn èyí.
هُمُ الأُلى إِن فاخَـروا قـال العُلـى بِفي اِمرِئٍ فاخَرَكُم عَفـرُ البَـرى
They were those that if they behave proudly, greatness will say that dust of the land is proud against you.
Àwọn ní èèyàn tó ṣé pé tí wọn bá ṣé ìgbérágá, gígá yíò sọ fún wọn pé èrúkú orí ìlẹ ń bà wọn ṣé ìgbérágá.
هُمُ الأُلى أَجـرَوا يَنابيـعَ النَـدى هامِيـةً لِمَـن عَـرى أَو اِعتَفـى
They were those that flows the fountains of wealth excessively for the pauper and the contented.
Àwọn ní èèyàn tón ṣọ̀n àwọn orísun óre ní bùnbú fún aláìní atí àlámojúkùrò.
