1. Introduction

Welcome to Qatru. These Terms govern your use of qatru.com and the related services we provide (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to them.

2. What Qatru Is

Qatru is a platform where scholars, authors and publishers ("Authors") make books and translations available, free of charge or for a price, and where readers ("Users") access them. Qatru also provides community forums for discussion.

3. Accounts

You can read the free sample of any work without an account. An account is needed to purchase a work or take part in the forums.

• Give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account, so tell us promptly if you believe it has been used without your permission.

4. Purchases and Access

• Prices are shown on each work's page, in Nigerian Naira (₦), before you buy. Some works are free in full.
• Payments are processed by Flutterwave, our payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
• A purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable right to read or listen to that work through your Qatru reading, for as long as it remains available on Qatru.
• Refunds. If a work is faulty or was not as described, write to support@qatru.com within 7 days of purchase and we will put it right, including a refund where that is the right outcome.
• If a purchased work is withdrawn from Qatru by its Author or by us, we will refund the price you paid for it.
• You may not share, resell or redistribute purchased content.

5. For Authors

• You confirm that you own the rights to what you submit, or have all the permissions needed to share it on Qatru.
• You keep the copyright in your work. You grant Qatru a non-exclusive right to host, display, format, and distribute it through the Service.
• You may choose to offer a work free, or set a price. Where a work is sold, Qatru retains a 15% platform commission and the remainder is credited to you, subject to the minimum withdrawal amount and the payout terms in your author agreement.
• You may ask us to remove your work at any time.
• We may decline, restrict or remove content where we have rights, policy or legal concerns.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service itself — its design, branding, features and functionality — is the property of Qatru and its licensors, and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.

Some classical source texts presented on Qatru are in the public domain because of their age. Our translations, annotations, organisation, presentation, branding, audio and platform features remain protected intellectual property unless otherwise stated.

Books and other modern works made available in the Reading are published only where Qatru has permission, consent, or another valid right to host or distribute that material. Copyright in those works remains with the relevant author, publisher or rights holder unless expressly transferred.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service:

• In any way that violates any applicable national or international law.
• To upload content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.
• To exploit or harm minors in any way.
• To transmit any advertising or promotional material (spam).
• To impersonate Qatru, a Qatru employee, or any other person.
• To copy, scrape, reproduce, redistribute or commercialise content from Qatru except as allowed by law or with appropriate permission.

8. Community Forums

Be respectful and keep discussions relevant. Views expressed in forum posts belong to the people who wrote them, not to Qatru. We may remove posts that break these Terms.

9. Scholarly Content

Works published on Qatru express the views of their authors. They are provided for learning and reference, and are not a substitute for a ruling (fatwa) or personal guidance from a qualified scholar.

10. Copyright Concerns and Takedown Requests

If you believe any material on Qatru infringes your rights or has been published without proper authorization, please contact us with sufficient detail to identify the material and the basis of your claim.

We review rights complaints in good faith and may remove or disable access to the relevant material while the matter is being assessed.

11. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or close an account where these Terms are breached or the Service is misused. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you the chance to put it right.

If we close your account for a reason other than a breach of these Terms, we will refund the price of any purchased work you can no longer access.

12. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Qatru and its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, use, goodwill or other intangible losses — resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date, and continued use of the Service means you accept them.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
