A GRASP

In order to sensitise Abubakar and prescribe for him the right thing at the right time, Al-Sahili starts the poem by saying.
"The day are surely weakening your heart completely,
-And time is fast exhausting your body.
-Death is calling on you really (saying)
-Listen, my friend it is you I actually want"

The summary message of Al-Sahili can be understood in the Prophetic tradition from the Authority of Ibn Abass who said, the Apostle of Allah said:
اغتنم خمسا قبل خمس حياتك قبل موتك وصحتك قبل سقمك، وفراغك قبل شغلك وشبابك قبل هرمك، وغناك قبل فقرك (أخرجه
الحاكم في المستدرك رقم 7846 ⁴
Meaning:
"Take Advantage of five things before five things happen: your live before death, your health before ailment, your blank before occupation, your youth before old age, your wealth before destitute".

Significance of Knowledge and Its Beauty
Verse 6-20 of manzumah has the same message where Al-Sahili tries hard to portray the importance of knowledge as a tool to facilitate piety when appropriately acquired and used.
Line 6 of the poem reasonably invites Abubakr to seek knowledge which gives pleasure only if could heed the clarion call. This very line is not categorical as to the matter upon which it lies except that pleasure inherent in it, should be the reason for him to listen.
"May I invite you, Abubakr, if only could answer,
To that which will give you pleasure you had better listen to reason!"
