BIOGRAPHY OF ABU ISHAQ AL-SAHILI
His Birth
His name is Ibrahim Ibn Mas'd Ibn saheed¹. Some scholar are however of the view that his ibn sa'd. His popularly known as. Al-tujaeybi al-ilbiri Al-sahili but often called Abu Ishaq (Isha's father) as his nickname. perhaps, he did not have any child called Ishaq but this has been the custom of Ulamah (Scholars) of middle age by which they were nicknamed with the name of one of their adopted students. We also experience the same situation by which "Al-Imam Al-Ghazali was nicknamed Abu Hamid, While Al-Ghazali had no child bearing Hamid but, he was nicknamed with the name of his pupil"³. Abu Ishaq Al-sahili was borned in a small village called hisnu-hiqa'b (las navas de tolasa) in the 13th century (1290 A.D) Although, many scholars categorized him among the people of 10th-11th century (375-460h) (985-1067/1068AD)⁴ but this fact cannot be established for the reason that shall giver later when we get to the discussion on his death. Hisnu-hiqab falls under the iberis (Elvira) and it is very close to Granada (garna'tah). However, all these districts and peninsula are now situated under the state of Granada in spain.
His Childhood and Education
There is no actual account of his educational background, (i.e how he acquired knowledge) and his life at a tender age. But there is possibility that he acquired his early education from his father Mas'ud who was a renowned scholar
