In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Ni orúkọ Ọlọhun, Oni ikẹ, Aláàánú.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. And I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and His Messenger — may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him.
Gbogbo ìyìn jẹ́ ti Ọlọhun, Olúwa gbogbo àwọn ayé. Mo sì jẹ́rìí sí i pé kò sí ọlọ́hun mìíràn bí kì í ṣe Alláhu, òun nìkan, kò sì ní alábàákẹ́gbẹ́ fún un. Mo sì tún jẹ́rìí sí i pé Muḥammad jẹ́ ẹrú rẹ̀ àti Ojiṣẹ rẹ̀ — kí àdúrà àti àlàáfíà Ọlọhun máa wà lára rẹ̀.
And upon the rest of the prophets and messengers, and upon the family of each, and upon those who follow them in excellence until the Day of Judgment.
Àti lori gbogbo àwọn Ànábì àti Àwọn Ojiṣẹ yòókù, àti lori ẹbí olúkúlùkù wọn, àti lori àwọn tí ń tọ̀ wọ́n lẹ́yìn pẹ̀lú ohun tí ó dára títí di Ọjọ́ Ìdájọ́.
To proceed: The poor servant in need of Allah Most High — Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī al-Mālikī ash-Shādhilī — may Allah forgive him, his parents, his teachers, his brothers, and the rest of the people of the Muḥammadan Sunnah — says:
Lẹyin náà: Ẹrú Ọlọhun, oni bukaata si Ọlọhun tí O ga Jù Lọ — Baba Ḥasan ʿAlī Mālikī (oni mimọ agbọye ẹsin nipa sẹ olukọ agba Maliku) Shādhilī (olutẹle ilana olukọ agba shasili nibi isunmọ Ọlọhun)— kí Ọlọhun dárí jì í, ati àwọn òbí rẹ̀, ati àwọn olùkọ́ rẹ̀, ati àwọn ará rẹ̀, àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn ti wọ́n tẹle ilana Anọbi Muhammad — wí pé:
This is an introductory work on matters of worship and other topics, according to the school of Imām Mālik ibn Anas — may Allah Most High have mercy on him — so that children and the like may benefit from it, if Allah Most High wills.
Èyí ni ọrọ ìṣáájú kan lórí àwọn ìdajọ ijọsin àti àwọn mìíràn tí ó jọ̀, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú ẹ̀kọ́ Olukọ agba Mālik ọmọ Anas — kí Ọlọhun Ọba To Ga Jù Lọ ṣe àánú fún un — kí àwọn ọmọdé àti irú wọn lè rí àǹfààní nípa rẹ̀, bí Ọlọhun Ọba To Ga Jù Lọ bá fẹ́.
I have summarized it from my book titled "ʿUmdat as-Sālik ʿalā Madhhab al-Imām Mālik fi al-ʿIbādāt wa Ghayrihā" (The Reliance of the Traveler on the School of Imām Mālik in Worship and Other Matters), and I have named it "The Precious Introduction for the Azharite Community," comprising eleven chapters.
