الباب الأول

On the authority of the Commander of the Believers, Abū Ḥafṣ (The brave) ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:

Láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọ̀gá Àwọn Onígbàgbọ́, Bàbá Ḥafṣ (akínkanjú) ʿUmar ọ̀mọ̀ al-Khaṭṭāb (kí Alláhu ṣe ìdùnnú fún un), tí ó wí pé: Mo gbọ́ tí Òjíṣẹ Ọlọhun ﷺ ń wí pé:

"Indeed, deeds are (judged) by intentions, and indeed, for every person is what he intended."

"Nítòótọ́, àwọn iṣẹ́ ni a fi ọkàn ṣe, nítòótọ́, ẹnìkan kán yóò rí ohun tí ó pinnu nínú ọkàn rẹ̀."

"So whoever's emigration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, then his emigration is to Allah and His Messenger."

"Nítorí náà, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ìrìn àjò ìṣíkiri rẹ̀ (hijrah) jẹ́ tí Ọlọhun àti Òjíṣẹ rẹ̀, dájúdájú, ìṣíkiri rẹ̀ tí jẹ́ tí Ọlọhun àti Òjíṣẹ rẹ̀."

"And whoever's emigration was to attain some worldly gain or to marry a woman, then his emigration is to that which he emigrated for."

"Àti ẹnikẹ́ni tí ìṣíkiri rẹ̀ jẹ́ láti gba èrè ayé kan tàbí láti fẹ́ obìnrin kan, nígbà náà, ìṣíkiri rẹ̀ tí jẹ́ tí ohun tí ó ṣíkiri sí."

Narrated by the two Imams of hadith scholars: Abū ʿAbdillāh Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mughīrah ibn Bardizbah al-Bukhārī, and Abū al-Ḥusayn Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj ibn Muslim al-Qushayrī an-Naysābūrī.
