أَوَّلَ مَا نَسْتَفْتِحُ الْمَقَالَا بِذِكْرِ حَمْدِ رَبِّنَا تَعَالَى


English

We begin this discourse first with the mention of praise to our Lord Most High.

Yoruba

A kọ́kọ́ bẹ̀rẹ̀ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí pẹ̀lú kíkà ìyìn Olúwa wa Gíga Jù Lọ.

فَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى مَا أَنْعَمَا حَمْدًا بِهِ يَجْلُو عَنِ الْقَلْبِ الْعَمَى


English

So all praise is due to Allah for what He has bestowed—a praise that removes blindness from the heart.

Yoruba

Nítorí náà, gbogbo ìyìn jẹ́ ti Alláhu fún ohun tí Ó ti fi ṣe oore—ìyìn tí ó ń mú afọ́jú kúrò nínú ọkàn.

ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ بَعْدُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى نَبِيٍّ دِينُهُ الْإِسْلَامُ


English

Then after that, prayers and peace upon a Prophet whose religion is Islam.

Yoruba

Lẹ́yìn náà, àdúrà àti àlàáfíà máa wà lára Ànábì tí ẹ̀sìn rẹ̀ jẹ́ Islamu.

مُحَمَّدٌ خَاتَمِ رُسْلِ رَبِّهْ وَآلِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَصَحْبِهْ


English

Muḥammad, the Seal of the Messengers of his Lord, and upon his family after him and his companions.

Yoruba

Muḥammad, Àsẹ̀dá Àwọn Rásúlù Olúwa rẹ̀, àti lara ẹbí rẹ̀ lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ àti àwọn ọrẹ́ rẹ̀.

وَنَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَنَا الْإِعَانَةْ فِيمَا تَوَخَّيْنَا مِنَ الْإِبَانَةْ


English

And we ask Allah for assistance in what we have intended of clarification.

Yoruba

A sì ń béèrè lọ́wọ́ Alláhu fún ìrànlọ́wọ́ nínú ohun tí a ti pinnu láti ṣàlàyé.

عَنْ مَذْهَبِ الْإِمَامِ زَيْدِ الْفَرَضِيِّ إِذْ كَانَ ذَاكَ مِنْ أَهَمِّ الْغَرَضِ


English

Concerning the school of Imām Zayd al-Faraḍī, for that is among the most important objectives.

Yoruba

Nípa ẹ̀kọ́ Imām Zayd al-Faraḍī, nítorí pé ìyẹn jẹ́ ọ̀kan lára àwọn ohun tí ó ṣe pàtàkì jù lọ.

عِلْمًا بِأَنَّ الْعِلْمَ خَيْرُ مَا سُعِيَ فِيهِ وَأَوْلَى مَالَهُ الْعَبْدُ دُعِيَ


English

Knowing that knowledge is the best thing one can strive for, and the most worthy to which the servant is called.

Yoruba

Mímọ̀ pé ìmọ̀ ni ohun tí ó dára jù tí a lè fọkàn sí, àti èyí tí ó yẹ jù fún ẹrú láti máa ṣe.

وَأَنَّ هَذَا الْعِلْمَ مَخْصُوصٌ بِمَا قَدْ شَاعَ فِيهِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ الْعُلَمَا


English

And that this knowledge is distinguished by what has become well-known among all scholars concerning it.

Yoruba

Àti pé ìmọ̀ yìí yàtọ̀ nípa ohun tí ó ti gbajúmọ̀ nínú rẹ̀ lọ́dọ̀ gbogbo àwọn ọ̀mọ̀wé.

بِأَنَّهُ أَوَّلُ عِلْمٍ يُفْقَدُ فِي الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى لَا يَكَادُ يُوجَدُ


English

That it is the first knowledge to be lost from the earth, until it is scarcely to be found.

Yoruba

Pé òun ni ìmọ̀ àkọ́kọ́ tí yóò pòórá láti ilẹ̀ ayé, títí kì yóò fi sì ní rí.

وَأَنَّ زَيْدًا خُصَّ لَا مَحَالَةْ بِمَا حَبَاهُ خَاتَمُ الرِّسَالَةْ


English

And that Zayd was indeed distinguished by what the Seal of the Message (the Prophet) bestowed upon him.

Yoruba

Àti pé Zayd ni a yà sọ́tọ̀ láìsí àní-àní nípa ohun tí Àsẹ̀dá Ìṣẹ́-Ránṣẹ́ (Ànábì) fi ṣe oore fún un.
