The messenger of Allah said: "when Allah wishes well for someone, he bestows-upon Him the understanding of religion" (Agreed tradition)⁸.
He also said: The superiority of the learned over the devout worshipper is like my superiority over the most interior among you" (Al-Tirmidhi related it)"⁹.
"As a matter of fact, Islam sees the acquisition of knowledge as a long process of learning which begins from the cradle to the grave. This is the reason why Islam in a most forceful and challenging manner made it clear that search for knowledge and learning is a sacred duty of every believing man and women¹⁰.
In another hand, Allah's command in suratul-tahrin also shows the relevant value of knowledge: "O you who believe! Ward off your selves and your families against a fire" (Q66 v 6)¹¹ and the companions asked the prophet, how do we save our families from the Hell fire he said: "By giving them Islameducation"¹².
Line 8-12 explain a rare beauty that radiates on the face of learned persons. Knowledge chases ignorance away. It paves way for light and does a way with darkness. Knowledge lightens up your way and guides you alright, Knowledge empowers its beholders. Al-Sahili also testifies to the immutable nature of knowledge. It lives on even after the demise of its beholder, Knowledge is indivisible and inherent.
He also draws out the similitude of knowledge with Indian sword that hardly misses its target whoever that might be or wherever he is.
