الْمَقَامَةُ الشِّعرية

And in which valley should I wander with him?

Àti pé ní ibi wo ni mo yẹ kí n rìn pẹ̀lú rẹ̀?

He said: Show him the foolishness of his heart.

Ó sọ pé: Fí ìwà òmùgọ̀ ọkàn rẹ̀ hàn án.

And my playful deception of his mind.

Àti ìtànkálẹ̀ mi ní ọkàn rẹ̀.

So he knows that his wind met a storm.

Kí ó lè mọ̀ pé afẹ́fẹ́ rẹ̀ pàdé ìjì.

And his stream encountered a current.

Àti pé odò rẹ̀ pàdé ìṣàn omi.

I said: I fear his anger might flare up.

Mo sọ pé: Mo bẹ̀rù pé ìbínú rẹ̀ lè gbóná.

And its flame might scorch you.

Àti pé iná rẹ̀ lè jó ọ́.

Or his recklessness escalates.

Tabi pe ìwà ìbànújẹ́ rẹ̀ ń pọ̀ sí i.

Then his wrath reaches you.

Nígbà náà, ìbínú rẹ̀ máa dé ọ́.

He said: I am now departing to Al-Raha.

Ó ní: Mo ń lọ sí Al-Raha báyìí.
