الْمَقَامَةُ الْكُوفِيَّةُ

And she is, as her name implies, righteous.

Ó sì jẹ́ olódodo gẹ́gẹ́ bí orúkọ rẹ̀ ṣe jẹ́.

That she married in the year of the raid on Mawan.

Pé ó ṣe ìgbéyàwó ní ọdún ìkọlù Máwánì.

A man from the nobles of Saruj and Ghassan.

Ọkùnrin kan láti ara àwọn ọlọ́lá Sárújì àti Gásánì.

When he perceived her pregnancy.

Nígbà tí ó rí i pé ó lóyún.

And he was, as they say, a calamity.

Ó sì jẹ́ àjálù gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ṣe ń sọ.

He departed from her secretly.

Ó lọ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ níkọ̀kọ̀.

And so on and so forth.

Àti bẹ́ẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.

So it is not known whether he is alive and expected.

Nítorí náà, a kò mọ̀ bóyá ó wà láàyè tí a ń retí rẹ̀.

Or has he been laid in the desolate grave?

Tàbí a ti tẹ́ ẹ sínú sàréè òfìfò?
