الْمَقَامَةُ الْكُوفِيَّةُ

Al-Asma'i did not narrate them in what

Asma'i kò sọ wọ́n nínú

He narrated, nor did Al-Kumayt compose them.

Ohun tí ó sọ, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Kumaiti kò hún wọn.

I took them as a means to

Mo mú wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀nà sí

What my hand reaps whenever I desire.

Ohun tí ọwọ́ mi yoo kórè rẹ̀ nígbàkígbà tí mo bá fẹ́.

And if I had abstained from them, my condition

Tí mo bá ti yẹra fún wọn, ipò mi

Would have changed, and I would not have gained what I gained.

Ìbá ti yí padà, n kò sì ní rí ohun tí mo rí gbà.

So prepare the excuse or forgive.

Nítorí náà, pèsè àwíjàre tàbí dárí jì.

If I have committed a crime or an offense.

Tí mo bá ti ṣẹ̀ tàbí ṣe àìtọ́.
