The narrator said:
Akọ̀ròyìn náà sọ pé:
So each of us committed to a portion of it.
Nítorí náà, ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan wa ṣe ìlérí apá kan nínú rẹ̀.
And wrote for him a receipt.
A sì kọ ìwé ìgbàsílẹ̀ fún un.
He thanked us then for that act.
Ó dúpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ wa fún iṣẹ́ náà.
And exhausted his capacity in praise.
Ó sì lo gbogbo agbára rẹ̀ láti yìn wá.
Until we found the speech long.
Títí tí a fi rí i pé ọ̀rọ̀ náà gùn jù.
And considered the favor small.
A sì ka ọrẹ náà sí kékeré.
Then he spread from the embroidery of night talk.
Lẹ́yìn náà, ó tàn ìṣọ̀rọ̀ alẹ́ rẹ̀ kalẹ̀.
What put ink to shame.
Ohun tí ó mú kí tádà tijú.
Until the light of dawn appeared.
Títí tí ìmọ́lẹ̀ òwúrọ̀ fi yọ.
