What do you have for a destitute traveler?
Kí ni ẹ ní fún arinrìn-àjò aláìní?
A weary night wanderer in the pitch-dark night.
Aláàárẹ̀ arìnrìn-òru ní òkùnkùn biribiri.
With a hungry belly wrapped around emptiness.
Pẹ̀lú ikùn tí ebi ń pa tí ó sì ṣófo.
Who has not tasted food for two days.
Ẹni tí kò tí ì tọ́wọ́ bọ oúnjẹ fún ọjọ́ méjì.
And has no refuge in your land.
Tí kò sì ní ibi ìsádi ní ilẹ̀ yín.
The wing of the falling darkness has spread.
Ìyẹ́ òkùnkùn tí ń wọ̀ ti tàn.
And he is in restless confusion.
Ó sì wà nínú ìdàrúdàpọ̀ àti àìbalẹ̀.
Is there in this dwelling a sweet spring?
Ǹjẹ́ orisun omi dídùn wà ní ibùgbé yìí?
That says to me: Cast down your staff and enter.
Tí yóò sọ fún mi pé: Jù ọ̀pá rẹ sílẹ̀ kí o sì wọlé.
And rejoice in good cheer and quick hospitality.
Kí o sì yọ̀ sí inú dídùn àti àlejò kíákíá.
