الْمَقَامَةُ الصَّنْعَانِيَّةُ

Al-Harith bin Hammam said: So I followed him, concealing my presence from him

Harisu ọmọ Hammam sọ pé: Mo sì tẹ̀lé e, mo fi ara mi pamọ́ fún un

I followed his tracks from where he couldn't see me

Mo tẹ̀lé àwọn ìpasẹ̀ rẹ̀ láti ibi tí kò ti lè rí mi

Until he ended up at a cave

Títí tí ó fi dé ihò àpáta kan

And he slipped into it carelessly

Ó sì yọ sínú rẹ̀ láìṣọ́ra

So I gave him time to remove his sandals

Mo sì fún un ní àkókò láti bọ́ bàtà rẹ̀

And wash his feet

Kí ó sì wẹ̀ ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀

Then I burst in on him

Lẹ́yìn náà mo ja lu lójijì

And I found him eating with a student

Mo sì bá a tí ó ń jẹun pẹ̀lú ọmọ ẹ̀kọ́ kan

Over bread of fine flour

Lórí àkàrà tí a fi ìyẹ̀fun dáradára ṣe

And a roasted kid

Àti ọmọ ewúrẹ́ sísun
