It would not have given rule to the deficient ones
Kì bá ti fún àwọn aláìpé ní àṣẹ
Then he said to me: Come closer and eat
Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ fún mi pé: Súnmọ́ tòsí kí o sì jẹun
And if you wish, stand and speak
Tí o bá fẹ́, dìde kí o sì sọ̀rọ̀
So I turned to his student and said
Mo sì yí padà sí ọmọ ẹ̀kọ́ rẹ̀ mo sì sọ pé
I adjure you by the One with whom you repel harm
Mo fi Ẹni tí o fi ń tì ìpalára sẹ́yìn be ọ
To tell me who this is
Láti sọ fún mi ẹni tí èyí jẹ́
He said: This is Abu Zayd al-Saruji
Ó sì sọ pé: Èyí ni Abu Seidu omo ilu Saruji
The lamp of strangers and the crown of the learned
Àtùpà àwọn àlejò àti adé àwọn olùkọ́
So I left from where I came
Mo sì padà sí ibi tí mo ti wá
And I was amazed at what I had seen
Mo sì ṣe ìyàlẹ́nu sí ohun tí mo rí
