الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّمْيَاطِيَّةُ

His companion said to him: Woe to you, my son

Ẹlẹgbẹ́ rẹ̀ sọ fún un pé: Ègbé ni fún ọ, ọmọ mi

One is only stingy with the precious

A máa ń ṣe ahun pẹ̀lú ohun iyebíye

And competes for the valuable

A sì ń ṣe ìdíje fún ohun tó níye

But I do not come

Ṣùgbọ́n èmi kò wá

To the unfavorable

Sí ẹni tí kò ṣe rere

And I do not brand the oppressor

Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni n kò ṣe ami eye sí aninilára

With my consideration

Pẹ̀lú àníyàn mi

And I do not befriend

Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni n kò ṣe ọ̀rẹ́

One who refuses to be fair to me

Ẹni tí kò fẹ́ ṣe déédé sí mi

And I do not fraternize

Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni n kò kẹ́gbẹ́ pẹ̀lú
