الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّمْيَاطِيَّةُ

And I love the close friend,

Mo sì fẹ́ràn ọ̀rẹ́ tímọ́tímọ́,

Even if he makes me drink boiling water.

Bí ó tilẹ̀ mú mi mu omi gbígbóná.

And I prefer the compassionate

Mo sì fẹ́ràn aláàánú

Over the brother

Ju omoiyami lọ

And I am loyal to the companion

Mo sì ṣe olóòótọ́ sí ọ̀rẹ́

Even if not reciprocated equally

Bí kò tilẹ̀ san padà bákannáà

And I consider abundant

Mo sì má n pese púpọ̀

For the guest

Fún àlejò

And I overwhelm the colleague

Mo sì ṣe ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ fún ẹlẹgbẹ́

With kindness

Pẹ̀lú inú rere
