إِذا أَتـاهُ لا يُــداوى بِالـرُقـى.
When it comes, cannot be healed by charms.
Nígbà tí ó bá dé, kò lè wòsàn nípasẹ̀ àwúre.
وَهـوَ مِـنَ الغَفلَـةِ فـي أَهويـةٍ.
Yet he is in heedlessness, in abysses.
Ṣùgbọ́n ó wà nínú àìmọ̀, nínú ìhò tí kò ní ìmọ̀.
كَخابِـطٍ بَيـنَ ظَـلامٍ وَعَـشـى.
Like one stumbling between darkness and twilight.
Bí ẹni tí ń ṣubú láàárín òkùnkùn àti ìrọ̀lẹ́.
نَحـنُ وَلا كُفـران لِـلَّـهِ كَـمـا.
We, without ingratitude to God, as it is said.
Àwa, láì ṣe àìdúpẹ́ sí Ọlọ́run, gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti sọ.
قَد قيلَ لِلسـارِبِ أَخلـي فَاِرتَعـى.
It has been said to the wanderer: be free and graze.
A ti sọ fún arìnrìn-àjò pé: jẹ́ òmìnira, kí o sì jẹ koríko.
إِذا أَحَــسَّ نَـبـأَةً ريــعَ وَإِن.
If he senses a sound, he is startled.
Tí ó bá gbọ́ ohun kan, ó máa yà.
تَطامَنَـت عَنـهُ تَمـادى وَلَـهـا.
But if it subsides, he continues and clings to it.
Ṣùgbọ́n tí ó bá dákẹ́, ó máa bá a lọ, ó sì di mọ́ ọn.
كَثلَّـةٍ ريعَـت لِلَيـثٍ فَـاِنـزَوَت.
Like a herd startled by a lion, then withdrew.
Bí agbo ẹran tí kìnnìún bá yà, wọ́n sì yà sílẹ̀.
حَتّى إِذا غابَ اِطمَأَنَّت إِن مَضـى.
Until when he departs, they are reassured once he is gone.
Títí tí ó fi lọ, wọ́n sì ní ìtùnú lẹ́yìn tí ó ti lọ.
نُهـالُ لِلأَمـرِ الَّـذي يَروعُـنـا.
We are shaken by the matter that terrifies us.
A ń rẹ̀rìn-ín nípa ọ̀ràn tí ń dá wa lórí.
