إذا اِستَفَزَّ القَلبَ تَبريـحُ الجَـوى.
When the heart is provoked by the torment of passion.
Nígbà tí ìrora ìfẹ́ bá ru ọkàn.
والدَهـرُ يَكبـو بِالفَتـى وَتـارَةً.
Time trips the youth, and at times.
Àkókò máa ń ṣubú ọdọ́, nígbà míì sì…
يُنهِضُـهُ مِـن عَثـرَةٍ إِذا كَـبـا.
It raises him from a stumble when he falls.
Ó máa gbé e dide láti ìṣubú nígbà tí ó bá ṣì.
لا تَعجَبن مِن هالِكٍ كيـفَ هَـوى.
Do not marvel at the perished, how he fell.
Má ṣe yà á lẹ́nu sí ẹni tí ó ṣubú, bí ó ṣe ṣì.
بَل فَاِعجبَن مِن سالِمٍ كَيـفَ نَجـا.
But marvel at the survivor, how he was saved.
Ṣùgbọ́n yà á lẹ́nu sí ẹni tí ó yé, bí ó ṣe gbà.
إِنَّ نُجـومَ المَجـدِ أَمسَـت أُفَّـلاً.
Indeed, the stars of glory have set.
Dájúdájú, àwọn ìràwọ̀ ògo ti ṣubú.
وَظِلُّهُ القالِـصُ أَضحـى قَـد أَزى.
And its shrinking shadow has faded away.
Ìbòjú rẹ̀ tí ń dín kù ti parí.
إِلّا بَقايـا مِـن أُنــاسٍ بِـهِـمُ.
Except for remnants of people through whom.
Bí kò ṣe àwọn ìyókù àwọn ènìyàn tí…
إِلـى سَبيـلِ المَكرُمـاتِ يُقتَـدى.
The path of noble deeds is followed.
Ọ̀nà ìwà rere ni a máa tẹ̀ lé.
إِذا الأَحاديـثُ اقتَضَـت أَنباءَهُـم.
When stories demand their news.
Nígbà tí ìtàn bá ń béèrè ìròyìn wọn.
