كانَت كَنَشرِ الرَوضِ غاداهُ السَدى.

Kò sí ẹni tí ń gbọ́ ní ìpàdé wọn.
هجـراً إِذا جالَسَـهُـم وَلا خَـنـا.
Any obscenity or betrayal when he sits with them.
Ìbáṣepọ̀ wọn kò ní ìbáṣepọ̀ búburú tàbí ìtanrànjẹ.
ما أَنعَـمَ العيشَـةَ لَـو أَنَّ الفَتـى.
How pleasant life would be if the youth.
Báwo ni ayé yóò ṣe dùn tí ọdọ́ bá…
يَقبَلُ مِنـهُ مَوتُـهُ أَسنـى الرُشـا.
Accepted his death as the noblest gift.
Bá a ṣe gba ikú rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀bùn tó ga jù lọ.
أَو لَـو تَحَلّـى بِالشَبـابِ عُمـرَهُ.
Or if he adorned his life with youth.
Tàbí tí ó bá fi ìgbà ọdọ́ ṣe ẹwà ìgbésí ayé rẹ̀.
لَم يَستَلِبهُ الشَيبُ هاتيـكَ الحُلـى.
Old age would not strip him of those ornaments.
Àgbàlagbà kì í yọ àwọn ẹwà wọ̀nyí kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
هَيهاتَ مَهمـا يُستَعـر مُستَرجـعٌ.
Far-fetched, whatever is kindled cannot be reclaimed.
Kò ṣeé rí, ohun tí a bá jó kì í tún rí padà.
وَفي خُطوبِ الدَهرِ لِلنـاسِ أَسـى.
In the trials of time, there is sorrow for mankind.
Nínú ìdánwò àkókò, ìbànújẹ wà fún ènìyàn.
وَفِتيَـةٍ سامَرَهُـم طَيـفُ الكَـرى.
And youths visited by the phantom of slumber.
Àwọn ọdọ́ tí ojú oorun bá wá.
