Hárìsù ọmọ Hammámì sọ pé: Nígbà tí ó fi adùn ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ gbá wa lọ́kàn.
And we knew what was behind his lightning.
A sì mọ ohun tí ó wà lẹ́yìn mọ̀nàmọ́ná rẹ̀.
We hastened to open the door.
A yára láti ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn.
And we received him with welcome.
A sì fi inú dídùn gbà á.
And we said to the boy: Come on, come on. And bring what is prepared!
A sì sọ fún ọmọdé náà pé: Yára, yára. Kí o sì mú ohun tí a ti pèsè wá!
The guest said: By Him who brought me to your threshold.
Àlejò náà sì wí pé: Ní orúkọ Ẹni tí ó mú mi wá sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà yín.
I will not taste your hospitality.
N kò ní tọ́wọ́ bọ oúnjẹ yín.
Unless you guarantee me that you will not consider me a burden.
Àyàfi tí ẹ bá ṣèlérí pé ẹ kò ní kà mí sí bùkátà,
And that you will not trouble yourselves with preparing food for me.
Àti pé ẹ kò ní ṣe wàhálà láti pèsè oúnjẹ fún mi.
For many a meal has troubled the eater.
Nítorí ọ̀pọ̀ oúnjẹ ni ó ti fa ìyọnu fún ajẹun.
