My father was deceived by his ornate impossibilities,
Bàbá mi gbá ẹtànjẹ nípa àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ ẹ̀tàn rẹ̀ tí ó dára láti gbọ́,
And married me to him before testing his condition.
Ó sì fẹ́ mi fún un láìṣe àyẹ̀wò ìwà rẹ̀.
When he took me from my dwelling,
Nígbà tí ó mú mi kúrò ní ibùgbé mi,
And removed me from my people,
Tí ó sì yọ mí kúrò láàrin àwọn ènìyàn mi,
And transferred me to his broken-down abode,
Tí ó sì gbé mi lọ sí ilé rẹ̀ tí ó ti bàjẹ́,
And placed me under his captivity,
Tí ó sì fi mí sábẹ́ ìgbèkùn rẹ̀,
I found him to be a sedentary lump,
Mo rí i pé ó jẹ́ ọlọ́jọ́kù aláìníṣẹ́,
And discovered him to be a sleepy recumbent.
Mo sì rí i pé ó jẹ́ aláìṣe tí ó fẹ́ràn orun.
I had accompanied him with fine furnishings and attire,
Mo ti bá a lọ pẹ̀lú ohun ọ̀ṣọ́ àti aṣọ dáradára,
And abundant household goods.
Àti nǹkan ilé tó pọ̀.
