الْمَقَامَةُ الرَّحْبِيَّةُ

And the path to reconciliation became difficult.

Àti pé ọ̀nà sí ìlàjà di àìrọrùn.

And the youth, in his refusal,

Àti ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin náà, nínú ìkọ̀ rẹ̀,

Captivated the governor's heart with his evasiveness.

Ó fa ọkàn gómìnà náà pẹ̀lú ọgbọ́n yíyẹ̀ rẹ̀.

And made him yearn to fulfill his desires.

Ó sì mú kí ó ní ìfẹ́ láti mú ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ ṣẹ.

Until his passion overshadowed his heart.

Títí tí ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ fi borí ọkàn rẹ̀.

And overwhelmed his mind.

Ó sì borí ọpọlọ rẹ̀.

Then the love that enslaved him enticed him.

Nígbà náà ni ìfẹ́ tí ó sọ ọ́ di ẹrú tàn án jẹ.

And the greed that he imagined.

Àti ìwọra (ojúkòkòrò)tí ó rò.

To free the youth and claim him for himself.

Láti dá ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin náà sílẹ̀ kí ó sì gbà á fún ara rẹ̀.

And to rescue him from the old man's snare, then catch him.

Àti láti gbà á kúrò nínú pàkúte àgbàlagbà náà, lẹ́yìn náà kí ó mú un.
