الْمَقَامَةُ الْحُلْوَانِيَّةُ

At times he would emerge in the guise of poets,

Nígbà míràn yóò farahàn bí akéwì,

and at others he would don the pride of the great.

nígbà míràn yóò sì wọ ìgbéraga àwọn ọlọ́lá.

However, with his changing states,

Ṣùgbọ́n, pẹ̀lú àwọn ìyípadà ipò rẹ̀,

and the clarity of his impossibilities,

àti irisi àìṣeéṣe rẹ̀,

he adorned himself with beauty and narration,

ó ṣe ara rẹ̀ lọ́ṣọ́ pẹ̀lú ẹwà àti ìtàn,

with courtesy and knowledge,

pẹ̀lú ìwà tútù àti ìmọ̀,

with marvelous eloquence,

pẹ̀lú ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó dára,

and obedient wit,

àti làákàyè tó yàrá dáhùn,

with exceptional manners,

pẹ̀lú ìwà tí ó dára jù,

and a high standing in the flags of sciences.

àti ipò gíga nínú àwọn àmì ìmọ̀ sáyẹ́ǹsì.
