الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّينَارِيَّةُ

فَجَرَّدْتُ دِينَارًا آخَرَ


English

So I pulled out another dinar,

Nítorí náà mo yọ dínárì mìíràn jáde,

92

وَقُلْتُ لَهُ: هَلْ لَكَ فِي أَنْ تَذُمَّهُ.


English

And said to him: Would you like to dispraise it,

Mo sì sọ fún un pé: Ṣé o fẹ́ bú u,

93

ثُمَّ تَضُمَّهُ؟


English

Then embrace it?

Yoruba

Kí o sì tún gbà á?

94

فَأَنْشَدَ مُرْتَجِلًا. وَشَدَا عَجِلًا:


English

So he recited impromptu, and sang quickly:

Nítorí náà ó sọ lójijì, ó sì kọrin kíákíá:

95

تَبًّا لَهُ مِنْ خَادِعٍ مُمَاذِقِ.


English

Woe to it, a deceiver and a hypocrite,

Ègbé ni fún un, aṣẹ̀tàn àti àgàbàgebè,

96

أَصْفَرَ ذِي وَجْهَيْنِ كَالْمُنَافِقِ.


English

Yellow with two faces like the hypocrite,

O pọ́ń pẹ̀lú ojú méjì bí àgàbàgebè,

97

يَبْدُو بِوَصْفَيْنِ لِعَيْنِ الرَّامِقِ.


English

Appearing with two descriptions to the observer's eye,

Ó ń farahàn pẹ̀lú àpèjúwe méjì sí ojú olùwòran,

98

زِينَةِ مَعْشُوقٍ وَلَوْنِ عَاشِقِ.


English

The adornment of the beloved and the color of the lover,

Yoruba

Ọ̀ṣọ́ olùfẹ́ àti àwọ̀ ẹni tí ń fẹ́ràn,

99

وَحُبُّهُ عِنْدَ ذَوِي الْحَقَائِقِ .


English

And its love, to those of truth,

Yoruba

Ìfẹ́ rẹ̀, fún àwọn tó mọ òtítọ́,

100

يَدْعُو إِلَى ارْتِكَابِ سُخْطِ الْخَالِقِ.


English

Calls to commit the wrath of the Creator.

Yoruba

Ń pèpe láti ṣe ohun tí yóò bà ibinu Ẹlẹ́dàá.
