الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّينَارِيَّةُ

قَالَ لَهُ قَوْلَ الْمُحِقِّ الصَّادِقِ.


English

Says to it the words of a truthful, righteous one:

Yoruba

Yóò sọ fún un ọ̀rọ̀ olóòótọ́, olódodo:

لَا رَأْيَ فِي وَصْلِكَ لِي فَفَارِقِ.


English

"I have no interest in your company, so depart."

Yoruba

"Èmi kò ní ìfẹ́ sí ìbágbépọ̀ rẹ, nítorí náà lọ."

فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا أَغْزَرَ وَبْلَكَ !


English

So I said to him: How abundant is your downpour!

Yoruba

Nítorí náà mo sọ fún un pé: Ìyàlenu ní òjò rẹ to pọ̀ tó yii!

فَقَالَ: وَالشَّرْطُ أَمْلَكُ.


English

He said: And the condition is more binding.

Yoruba

Ó sọ pé: Àti pé àdéhùn ni ó ní agbára jù.

فَنَفَحْتُهُ بِالدِّينَارِ الثَّانِي.


English

So I gave him the second dinar.

Yoruba

Nítorí náà mo fún un ní dínárì kejì.

116

وَقُلْتُ لَهُ: عَوِّذْهُمَا بِالْمَثَانِي.


English

And I said to him: Protect them with the oft-repeated verses.

Yoruba

Mo sì sọ fún un pé: Dáàbò bò wọ́n pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹsẹ tí a máa ń tún sọ.

فَأَلْقَاهُ فِي فَمِهِ.


English

So he threw it in his mouth,

Nítorí náà ó jù ú sínú ẹnu rẹ̀,

وَقَرَنَهُ بِتَوْأَمِهِ.


English

And paired it with its twin.

Yoruba

Ó sì so ó pọ̀ mọ́ ìbejì rẹ̀.

وَانْكَفَأَ يَحْمَدُ مَغْدَاهُ.


English

And he turned away praising his morning,

Yoruba

Ó sì yí padà, ó ń yìn òwúrọ̀ rẹ̀,

120

وَيَمْدَحُ النَّادِيَ وَنَدَاهُ.


English

And praising the assembly and its generosity.

Yoruba

Ó sì ń yìn àpéjọ náà àti ọ̀rọ̀ wọn.
