الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّينَارِيَّةُ

And said: A noble one fulfills what he promises,

Ó sì wí pé: Ọmoluabi a máa mú ìlérí rẹ̀ ṣẹ,

And the cloud rains when it thunders.

esujo a sì máa rọ̀jò nígbà tí ó bá sán àrá.

So I tossed the dinar to him,

Nítorí náà mo jù dínárì náà fún un,

And said: Take it without regret,

Mo sì wí pé: Gbà á láìsí ìbànújẹ́,

So he put it in his mouth,

Ó sì fi sí ẹnu rẹ̀,

And said: May Allah bless it!

Ó sì wí pé: Kí Ọlọ́hun bùkún un!

Then he prepared to leave,

Lẹ́yìn náà ó múra láti lọ,

After completing his praise.

Lẹ́yìn tí ó ti parí ìyìn rẹ̀.

From his humor arose in me a passion's intoxication,

Láti inú ẹ̀rín rẹ̀ ni ìfẹ́ àtọwọ́dá dìde nínú mi,

That made it easy for me to resume fascination.

Èyí tó mú kí ó rọrùn fún mi láti tún bẹ̀rẹ̀ ìfẹ́.
