الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّمْيَاطِيَّةُ

Until they were overwhelmed with gifts.

Títí tí ẹ̀bùn fi bò wọ́n mọ́lẹ̀.

And were taken as close friends.

A sì mú wọn bí ọ̀rẹ́ tímọ́tímọ́.

We were at a resting place from which we could see the buildings of villages.

A wà ní ibi ìsinmi kan tí a ti lè rí àwọn ilé ìlú náà.

And discern the fires of hospitality.

A sì ń rí iná àlejò.

When Abu Zayd saw his purse was full.

Nígbà tí Abu Seidu rí i pé àpò rẹ̀ ti kún.

And his misery had cleared.

Tí òsì rẹ̀ sì ti kúrò.

He said to me: My body has become dirty.

Ó sọ fún mi pé: Ara mi ti dọtí.

And my grime has been firm

Èérí sì ti lẹ̀ mọ́ mi.

Do you permit me to go to a village to bathe?

Ṣé o yóò fún mi láààyè láti lọ sí ìlú kan láti wẹ̀?

And accomplish this important matter?
