الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّمْيَاطِيَّةُ

Títí ọjọ́ fi dàgbà.

And the cliff of the day was about to collapse.

Tí etí ọjọ́ fẹ́rẹ̀ wó.

When the waiting period lengthened.

Nígbà tí àkókò ìdúró gùn.

And the sun appeared in tatters.

Tí òòrùn sì farahàn nínú àwọ̀ ṣíṣá

I said to my companions: We've reached the limit of delay.

Mo sọ fún àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ mi: A ti dé òpin ìdádúró.

And we've prolonged our journey.

A sì ti fa ìrìnàjò wa gùn.

Until we've wasted time.

Títí a fi sọ àkókò nù.

And it's clear that the man has lied.

Ó sì dá wa lójú pé ọkùnrin náà ti purọ́.

So prepare for departure.

Nítorí náà, ẹ múra sílẹ̀ fún ìrìnàjò.
