الْمَقَامَةُ الْبَرْقَعِيدِيَّةُ

In times of leisure

Ní àkókò ìsinmi

He handed them to his old cunning woman

Ó fún obìnrin arúgbó eletekete rẹ

And ordered her to look for a customer

Ó sì pàṣẹ fún un láti wá oníbàárà

Whoever she sensed generosity in his hands

Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá rí ọwọ́ ẹ̀bùn lára rẹ̀

She would throw one of the notes to him

Yóò jù ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìwé náà sí i

The blamed fate made available to me

Ìpín tí a bá wí mú wá fún mi

A note on which was written

Ìwé kékeré kan tí a kọ̀wé sí

I have become afflicted

Mo ti di aladanwo

With pains and fears

Pẹ̀lú ìrora àti ìbẹ̀rù

And tested with the arrogant and the deceitful

A sì ti dán mi wò pẹ̀lú agbéraga àti ẹlẹ́tàn
