الْمَقَامَةُ الْحُلْوَانِيَّةُ

141

ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَدُونَكُمْ بَيْتَيْنِ آخَرَيْنِ.


English

Then he said: And here are two more verses for you.

Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ: Àti pé ẹ wo àwọn ẹsẹ ewì méjì mìíràn fún yín.

وَأَنْشَدَ:

And he recited:

Ó sì kà jáde:

143

وَأَقْبَلَتْ يَوْمَ جَدّ الْبَيْن فِي حُلَلٍ


English

She approached on the day of serious parting in garments

Ó súnmọ́ ní ọjọ́ ìpínyà pàtàkì nínú aṣọ

144

سُودٍ تَعَضُّ بَنَانَ النَّادِمِ الْحَصِرِ


English

black, biting the fingertips of the remorseful, restricted one

dúdú, tí ó ń gé ìka ẹni tí ó ń ṣe ìrònú, tí a dínà fún

فَلَاحَ لَيْلٌ عَلَى صُبْحٍ أَقَلَّهُمَا


English

A night appeared on a morning, and both were raised by

Òru hàn lórí òwúrọ̀, tí ó si gbe mejeeji soke

غُصْنٌ وَضَرَّست الْبِلَّوْرَ بِالدُّرَرِ


English

a branch, and bit crystal with pearls

ẹ̀ka kan, o sì deyin mo kìrìsítà pẹ̀lú iyùn

فَحِينَئِذٍ اسْتَسْنَى الْقَوْمُ قِيمَتَهُ.


English

At that moment, the people recognized his value.

Ní àkókò náà, àwọn ènìyàn mọ pataki re.

وَاسْتَغْزَرُوا دِيمَتَهُ.


English

And they sought to increase his continuous rain.

Wọ́n sì wá láti mú òjò rẹ̀ pọ̀ si.

149

وَأَجْمَلُوا عِشْرَتَهُ.


English

They beautified his companionship.

Yoruba

Wọ́n ṣe ìbágbépọ̀ rẹ̀ lọ́ṣọ́.

150

وَجَمَّلُوا قِشْرَتَهُ.


English

And they adorned his outer appearance.

Yoruba

Wọ́n sì ṣe ìrísí rẹ̀ lọ́ṣọ́.
