I journeyed to Damietta,

In a year of commotion and turmoil..
Ní ọdún ìdàrúdàpọ̀ àti ìrúkèrúdò.
And I was then looked upon with ease,
Nígbà náà, won ń wò mí pẹ̀lú ìrọ̀rùn,
Loved in brotherhood,

Dragging the cloaks of wealth,

And beholding the signs of happiness.
Mo sì ń yo pelu awon apere ayọ̀.
I accompanied companions who had split the staff of discord,
Mo bá àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ tí wọ́n ti run ọ̀pá ìjà,
And suckled the udders of harmony.
