أَخْبَرَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ مِنْ أَعَاجِيبِ الزَّمَانِ.
Al-Harith ibn Hammam reported, saying: I saw among the wonders of time.
Hárìsù ọmọ Hammam sọ̀rọ̀, ó ní: Mo rí nínú àwọn ìyanu àkókò.
أَنْ تَقَدَّمَ خَصْمَانِ.
That two fighters came forward.
Pé àwọn méjì tí wọ́n n jà jáde wá.
إِلَى قَاضِي مَعَرَّةِ النُّعْمَانِ.
To the judge of Ma'arrat al-Nu'man.
Sí ọ́dọ̀ adájọ́ Ma'arrat al-Nu'man.
أَحَدُهُمَا قَدْ ذَهَبَ مِنْهُ الْأَطْيَبَانِ.
One of them had lost his two best things (youth and vigor).
Ọ̀kan nínú wọn ti pàdánù àwọn ohun méjì tó dára jùlọ (èwe àti agbára).
وَالْآخَرُ كَأَنَّهُ قَضِيبُ الْبَانِ.
And the other was like a willow branch.
Àti pé èkejì dàbí ẹ̀ka igi Wilo.
فَقَالَ الشَّيْخُ: أَيَّدَ اللَّهُ الْقَاضِيَ.
The old man said: May Allah support the judge.
Arúgbó náà sọ pé: Kí Ọlọ́hun ran adájọ́ lọ́wọ́.
كَمَا أَيَّدَ بِهِ الْمُتَقَاضِي.
As He supported the litigant.
Gẹ́gẹ́ bí Ó ti ran ẹni tí ń bẹ̀bẹ̀ lọ́wọ́.
إِنَّهُ كَانَتْ لِي مَمْلُوكَةٌ رَشِقَةُ الْقَدِّ.
I had a slave girl of slender stature.
Mo ní ọmọ ọdọ̀ obìnrin tí ó ní ara tínrín.
أَسِيلَةُ الْخَدِّ.
With smooth cheeks.
Pẹ̀lú ẹ̀rẹ̀kẹ́ dídán.
صَبُورٌ عَلَى الْكَدِّ.
Patient in hardship.
