الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَرَاغِيَّةُ

Al-Harith ibn Hammam narrated, saying

Ḥárìsù ọmọ Hammām sọ báyìí

I attended the council of deliberation in Al-Maragha

Mo lọ sí ìpàdé ìgbìmọ̀ ní ìlú Maraga

And therein the mention of eloquence flowed

Níbẹ̀, ọ̀rọ̀ nípa ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ń sàn bí odò

Those present from among the knights of the pen agreed

Àwọn tó wà níbẹ̀ nínú àwọn akọ̀wé oníyebíye fohùn sọ̀kan

And the masters of eloquence

Àti àwọn ọ̀gá ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ

That none remained who could refine composition

Pé kò sí ẹnìkan mọ́ tó lè ṣe àtúnṣe ìwé kíkọ

And manipulate it as they pleased

Tàbí yí i padà bí wọ́n bá ti fẹ́

And no successor

Àti pé kò sí arọ́pò

After the predecessors

Lẹ́yìn àwọn àtijọ́

Who could innovate a brilliant method

Tó lè ṣẹ̀dá ọ̀nà tuntun tó dára
