الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَكِّيَّةُ

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó jáde láti sọ̀rọ̀, bí ẹni tí wọ́n dá sílẹ̀ láti inú ìdè.

Ó kọrin pé: Èmi ni ọkùnrin tí wọ́n tún ṣe lẹ́yìn ìrora àti ìṣẹ̀.

And my journey is vast, beyond my swift pace.

Àti pé ìrìnàjò mi gùn, jù ìyàrá mi lọ.

I do not have a mustard seed's worth of gold.

Mi ò ní iru dédé èso Karidala kan tó jẹ́ wúrà.

My means are blocked, and my confusion plays with me.

Ọ̀nà mi ti dì, àti pé ìdààmú mi ń ṣeré pẹ̀lú mi.

If I travel on foot, I fear the causes of ruin.

Tí mo bá rìn ní ẹsẹ̀, mo bẹ̀rù àwọn ìdí ìparun

If I lag behind the group, my path narrows.

Tí mo bá ṣàìtẹ̀lé àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́, ọ̀nà mi yóò di.

My sigh is in ascent, and my tear is in descent.

Ohùn ẹkún mi wà ní gíga, àti pé omije mi wà ní ìsàlẹ̀.

And you are the refuge of the hopeful and the target of requests.

Ẹ̀yin ni ibi ààbò fún àwọn tó ní ireti àti ibi ìbéèrè.

Your generosity is like a flowing spring, unlike the fleeting clouds.

Ìfẹ́ràn yín dàbí orísun tí ń ṣàn, kì í ṣe bí àwọsánmọ̀ tó ń lọ.
