Al-Harith bin Hammam narrated: I headed towards Mayafarqin.
Hárìsù ọmọ Hammam sọ pé: Mo lọ sí Mayafarkin.
With a group of agreeable companions. They do not dispute in whispers.
Pẹ̀lú ẹgbẹ́ àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ tó bá mi mu. Wọn kò jiyàn ní ìkọkọ
And they do not know the taste of flattery.
Wọn kò mọ̀ ìtẹ́lọ́rùn ìdẹ̀rùn.
So I was with them as one who did not leave his den.
Nítorí náà, mo wà pẹ̀lú wọn bí ẹni tí kò fi ilé rẹ̀ sílẹ̀.
Nor departed from his familiar and neighbor.
Tabi tí kò fi ọ̀rẹ́ àti aládùúgbò rẹ̀ sílẹ̀.
When we settled our mounts there.
Nígbà tí a bá àwọn ẹranko wa síbẹ̀.
And moved from the saddles to the nests.
Àti pé a lọ láti inú àwọn ẹṣin sí àwọn ilé.
We advised each other to remember companionship.
A rán ara wa létí láti rántí ìfẹ́ ọ̀rẹ́.
And we refrained from severing ties in estrangement.
Àti pé a yà ara wa kúrò ní ìyàtọ̀ ní ìbòmíràn.
We established a club we frequented at both ends of the day.
A dá ilé ìgbàgbọ́ kan tí a máa ń lọ sí ní ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ àti ìparí ọjọ́.
