الْمَقَامَةُ الْفَارِقِيَّةُ

Ọkùnrin kan tó ní èdè tó dára àti ohùn tó ga dúró níwájú wa.

He greeted with the salutation of one who unties knots, a hunter of lions and coins.

Ó kí wa pẹ̀lú kìkí ẹni tó máa ń tú àwọn kókó, olùdẹ́ ẹkùn àti owó.

Then he said: I have a wondrous tale, full of lessons for the wise and astute.

Lẹ́yìn náà, ó sọ pé: Mo ní ìtàn kan tó yàtọ̀, tó kún fún ẹ̀kọ́ fún ọlọ́gbọ́n àti olooye

I saw in the prime of my youth a brother of valor.
