الْمَقَامَةُ الدِّمْيَاطِيَّةُ

عَرَبِيَّة : إِلَى أَنْ غُمِرَا بِالنُّحْلَانِ.

English: Until they were overwhelmed with gifts.

Yoruba: Títí tí ẹ̀bùn fi bò wọ́n mọ́lẹ̀.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَاتُّخِذَا مِنَ الخُلَّانِ.

English: And were taken as close friends.

Yoruba: A sì mú wọn bí ọ̀rẹ́ tímọ́tímọ́.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَكُنَّا بِمَعْرَسٍ نَتَبَيَّنُ مِنْهُ بُنْيَانَ القُرَى.

English: We were at a resting place from which we could see the buildings of villages.

Yoruba: A wà ní ibi ìsinmi kan tí a ti lè rí àwọn ilé ìlú náà.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَنَتَنَوَّرُ نِيرَانَ القِرَى.

English: And discern the fires of hospitality.

Yoruba: A sì ń rí iná àlejò.

عَرَبِيَّة : فَلَمَّا رَأَى أَبُو زَيْدٍ امْتِلَاءَ كِيسِهِ.

English: When Abu Zayd saw his purse was full.

Yoruba: Nígbà tí Abu Seidu rí i pé àpò rẹ̀ ti kún.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَانْجِلَاءَ بُؤْسِهِ.

English: And his misery had cleared.

Yoruba: Tí òsì rẹ̀ sì ti kúrò.

عَرَبِيَّة : قَالَ لِي: إِنَّ بَدَنِي قَدِ اتَّسَخَ.

English: He said to me: My body has become dirty.

Yoruba: Ó sọ fún mi pé: Ara mi ti dọtí.

عَرَبِيَّة : وَدَرَنِي قَدْ رَسَخَ.

English: And my grime has been firm

Yoruba: Èérí sì ti lẹ̀ mọ́ mi.

عَرَبِيَّة : أَفَتَأْذَنُ لِي فِي قَصْدِ قَرْيَةٍ لِأَسْتَحِمَّ.

English: Do you permit me to go to a village to bathe?

Yoruba: Ṣé o yóò fún mi láààyè láti lọ sí ìlú kan láti wẹ̀?

عَرَبِيَّة : وَأَقْضِيَ هَذَا المُهِمَّ؟

English: And accomplish this important matter?

Yoruba: Kí n sì ṣe ohun pàtàkì yìí?
