الْمَقَامَةُ الْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةُ

عَرَبِيَّة : وَأَزُورُ السِّجْنَ لَوْلَا حَاكِمُ الْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ

English: And would have visited prison if not for the judge of Alexandria

Yoruba: Ìbá sì ti lọ sẹ́wọ̀n bí kò bá ṣe fún adájọ́ Aleksandria

عَرَبِيَّة : فَضَحِكَ الْقَاضِي حَتَّى هَوَتْ دُنْيَتُهُ. وَذَوَتْ سَكِينَتُهُ.

English: The judge laughed until his cap fell and his composure withered.

Yoruba: Adájọ́ rẹ́rìn-ín títí tí fìlà rẹ fi jabo , ìwọ̀ntúnwọ̀nsì rẹ̀ sì rọ.

عَرَبِيَّة : فَلَمَّا فَاءَ إِلَى الْوَقَارِ.

English: When he returned to his dignity,

Yoruba: Nígbà tí ó padà sí ìfarabalẹ rẹ̀,

عَرَبِيَّة : وَعَقَّبَ الاسْتِغْرَابَ بِالاسْتِغْفَارِ.

English: And he followed astonishment with seeking forgiveness.

Yoruba: Ó sì tẹ̀lé ìyàlẹ́nu pẹ̀lú ìwá àforíjìn.

عَرَبِيَّة : قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ بِحُرْمَةِ عِبَادِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ.

English: He said: O Allah, by the sanctity of Your close servants.

Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Ìwọ Ọlọ́run, nípasẹ̀ ọ̀wọ̀ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ tí ó súnmọ́ ọ́.

عَرَبِيَّة : حَرِّمْ حَبْسِي عَلَى الْمُتَأَدِّبِينَ.

English: Forbid my imprisonment upon the well-mannered.

Yoruba: Ṣe ẹwọ̀n mi ni eewọ lórí àwọn tí ó ní ìwà rere.

عَرَبِيَّة : ثُمَّ قَالَ لِذَلِكَ الْأَمِينِ: عَلَيَّ بِهِ.

English: Then he said to that trustworthy one: Bring him to me.

Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn náà ó sọ fún ẹni olóòótọ́ náà pé: Mú un wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ mi.

عَرَبِيَّة : فَانْطَلَقَ مُجِدًّا بِطَلَبِهِ.

English: So he set off, diligently seeking him.

Yoruba: Nítorí náà, ó jáde lọ, ó ń wá a pẹ̀lú àìsimi.

عَرَبِيَّة : ثُمَّ عَادَ بَعْدَ لَأْيِهِ.

English: Then he returned after his slowness.

Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn náà ó padà lẹ́yìn ìgbà pípẹ́.

عَرَبِيَّة : مُخْبِرًا بِنَأْيِهِ.

English: Informing of his distance.

Yoruba: Ó ń sọ nípa jíjìnnà rẹ̀.
