الْمَقَامَةُ السَّمَرْقَنْدِيَّةُ

And the air they breathe in, is a blast.

Àti afẹ́fẹ́ tí wọ́n fà sára jẹ ń tó má ndun gbamu

No wealth made them happy, nor children.

Kò sí owó tí ó mú wọn yọ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọmọ.

Nor did numbers protect them, nor accessories.

Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn onka kò dáàbò bo wọn, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn nǹkan.

May God have mercy on a person who controls his desires.

Kí Ọlọ́run ṣàánú ẹni tí ó ṣàkóso ìfẹ́ rẹ̀.

And follows the paths of guidance.

Tí Ó tẹ̀lé àwọn ọ̀nà ìtọ́sọ́nà.

And perfects obedience to his Lord.

Tí Ó sì mú ìgbọ́ràn sí Olúwa rẹ̀ pé.

And strives for the spirit of his abode.

Tí Ó ṣiṣẹ́ fún ẹ̀mí ibùsùn rẹ̀.

And works as long as life is compliant.

Tí Ó ṣiṣẹ́ bí ìgbà ayé bá ti jẹ́.

And time is accommodating.

Àti tí àkókò náa sì gbè é.

And health is complete.

Àti bí ilera bá ti pé.
