الْمَقَامَةُ السَّمَرْقَنْدِيَّةُ

And how many meals it has ordered.

Àti mèló mèló ni àwọn oúnjẹ tí ó bèèrè fún.

And how many crowds it has scattered.

And how many honored kings it has destroyed.

Àti mèló ni àwọn ọba alapọnle tí ó ti pa.

Its concern is to deafen the ears.

Ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ ni láti dí etí.

And to shed tears.

Àti láti sọ omi ojú.

And to frustrate ambitions.

Àti láti dá àwọn ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ dúró.

And to ruin the speaker and the listener.

Àti láti pa ẹni tó ń sọ̀rọ̀ àti ẹni tó ń gbọ́.

His rule encompassed both kings and commoners.

Ìjọba rẹ̀ kárí gbogbo ọba àti àwọn ará ìlú.

Both the ruled and the obeyed.

Àwọn tí a ń ṣàkóso àti àwọn tí a ń tẹ̀lé.

The envied and the envious.
