الْمَقَامَةُ الْكُوفِيَّةُ

English: And the bright morning emerged.

Yoruba: Òwúrọ̀ dídán sì tàn jáde.

English: So we spent a night whose impurities disappeared.

Yoruba: Nítorí náà, a lo òru kan tí gbogbo èérí rẹ̀ parẹ́.

English: Until its forelock turned gray.

Yoruba: Títí tí irun iwájú rẹ̀ fi di funfun.

English: And its fortunes were completed.

Yoruba: Àwọn ire rẹ̀ sì pé.

English: Until its stem burst.

Yoruba: Títí tí igi rẹ̀ fi bẹ́.

English: And when the horn of the gazelle (sun) appeared.

Yoruba: Nígbà tí ìwo oòrùn bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ní yọ.

English: He leapt like the leap of a gazelle.

Yoruba: Ó bẹ́ sókè bí bìbẹ́ àgbọ̀nrín.

English: And said: Rise with us to collect the donations.

Yoruba: Ó sì wí pé: Ẹ dìde kí a lọ gba àwọn ẹ̀bùn náà.

English: And to cash the cheques.

Yoruba: Kí a sì gba àwọn ìwé owó náà.

English: For the cracks of my liver have spread.

Yoruba: Nítorí àwọn ìlà ẹ̀dọ̀ mi ti tàn kálẹ̀.
