الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَرَاغِيَّةُ

English: Al-Harith ibn Hammam narrated, saying

Yoruba: Ḥárìsù ọmọ Hammām sọ báyìí

English: I attended the council of deliberation in Al-Maragha

Yoruba: Mo lọ sí ìpàdé ìgbìmọ̀ ní ìlú Maraga

English: And therein the mention of eloquence flowed

Yoruba: Níbẹ̀, ọ̀rọ̀ nípa ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí ń sàn bí odò

English: Those present from among the knights of the pen agreed

Yoruba: Àwọn tó wà níbẹ̀ nínú àwọn akọ̀wé oníyebíye fohùn sọ̀kan

English: And the masters of eloquence

Yoruba: Àti àwọn ọ̀gá ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ sísọ

English: That none remained who could refine composition

Yoruba: Pé kò sí ẹnìkan mọ́ tó lè ṣe àtúnṣe ìwé kíkọ

English: And manipulate it as they pleased

Yoruba: Tàbí yí i padà bí wọ́n bá ti fẹ́

English: And no successor

Yoruba: Àti pé kò sí arọ́pò

English: After the predecessors

Yoruba: Lẹ́yìn àwọn àtijọ́

English: Who could innovate a brilliant method

Yoruba: Tó lè ṣẹ̀dá ọ̀nà tuntun tó dára
