Chapter 6

الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَرَاغِيَّةُ

31

وَسَكَتَ المَزْجُورُ وَالزَّاجِرُ


English

And both the rebuked and the rebuker fell silent

Tí ẹni tí a bá wí àti ẹni tó ń bá ni wí sì dákẹ́

32

أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الجَمَاعَةِ وَقَالَ


English

He turned to the gathering and said

Yoruba

Ó yíjú sí àwọn ènìyàn, ó sì wí pé

33

لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئًا إِدًّا


English

Indeed, you have brought forth a grave matter

Yoruba

Nítòótọ́, ẹ ti mú ọ̀rọ̀ tó léwu wá

وَجُرْتُمْ عَنِ القَصْدِ جِدًّا


English

And you have strayed far from the purpose

Yoruba

Ẹ sì ti yapa jìnnà kúrò lọ́nà tó tọ́

35

وَعَظَّمْتُمُ العِظَامَ الرُّفَاتَ


English

You have magnified decayed bones

Yoruba

Ẹ ti gbé egungun tó ti di eruku ga

36

وَافْتَتُّمْ فِي المَيْلِ إِلَى مَنْ فَاتَ


English

And you have been infatuated with inclining towards those who have passed

Yoruba

Ẹ sì ti fẹ́ràn láti fara mọ́ àwọn tó ti kú lọ

37

وَغَمَصْتُمْ جِيلَكُمْ الَّذِينَ فِيهِمْ لَكُمْ اللِّداتُ


English

And you have belittled your generation in whom you shared birthdays with,

Ẹ sì ti pẹ́gàn ìran yín, àwọn tí bíbí wọn sùnmọ̀ tiyín,

38

مَعَهُمْ انْعَقَدَتِ المَوَدَّاتُ


English

With whom affections were formed

Yoruba

Pẹ̀lú wọn ní ìfẹ́ n fí sopọ̀

39

أَنَسِيتُمْ يَا جَهَابِذَةَ النَّقْدِ


English

Have you forgotten, O masters of criticism

Yoruba

Ṣé ẹ ti gbàgbé, ẹ̀yin olùdájọ́ ọgbọ́n

40

وَمَوَابِذَةَ الحَلِّ وَالعَقْدِ


English

And priests of resolution and binding

Yoruba

Àti àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ń tú àti dè ọ̀rọ̀
