الْمَقَامَةُ الْمَرَاغِيَّةُ

عَرَبِيَّة : وَتَشَامُخُ أَنْفِهِ

English: And the upturning of his nose

Yoruba: Àti bí ó ṣe ń gbé imú sókè

عَرَبِيَّة : أَنَّهُ مُخْرَنْبِقٌ لِيَنْبَاعَ

English: That he was crouching to spring forth

Yoruba: Pé ó ń bẹ̀rẹ̀ láti fò jáde

عَرَبِيَّة : وَمُجرمِزٌ سَيَمُدُّ البَاعَ

English: And gathering himself to extend his reach

Yoruba: Ó sì ń kójọ ara rẹ̀ láti ná ọwọ́ rẹ̀

عَرَبِيَّة : وَنَابِضٌ يَبْرِي النِّبَالَ

English: And a taut bowstring sharpening arrows

Yoruba: Ó sì dàbí okùn ọrùn tó ń pọn ọfà mú

عَرَبِيَّة : وَرَابِضٌ يَبْغِي النِّضَالَ

English: And a crouching lion seeking combat

Yoruba: Ó sì dàbí kìnnìún tó ń wá ìjà

عَرَبِيَّة : فَلَمَّا نُثِلَتِ الكَنَائِنُ

English: So when the quivers were emptied

Yoruba: Nígbà tí wọ́n ti lo gbogbo ọfà tán

عَرَبِيَّة : وَفَاءَتِ السَّكَائِنُ

English: And the stillness returned

Yoruba: Tí ìdákẹ́ sì padà

عَرَبِيَّة : وَرَكَدَتِ الزَّعَازِعُ

English: And the winds calmed

Yoruba: Tí afẹ́fẹ́ sì dákẹ́

عَرَبِيَّة : وَكَفَّ المُنَازِعُ

English: And the contender ceased

Yoruba: Tí alátakò sì dákẹ́

عَرَبِيَّة : وَسَكَنَتِ الزَّمَاجِرُ

English: And the roars quieted

Yoruba: Tí ariwo sì dákẹ́
