Yoruba: Nítorí náà mo bẹ̀ ẹ́ lọ́wọ́ nípa orúkọ Ọlọ́hun, ṣé òun ni Abu Seidu?
English: He said: Yes, by Him who permitted the hunting,
Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Bẹ́ẹ̀ni, ní orúkọ Ọlọhun tó gbà wá láyè di dẹdẹ.
English: I said: Who is this youth,
Yoruba: Mo sọ pé: Ta ni ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin yìí,
English: For whom dreams have yearned?
Yoruba: Ẹni tí àwọn àlá ti ń nifẹ́ si?
English: He said: In lineage, he is my offspring,
Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Nínú ìdílé, òun ni ọmọ mi,
English: And in earnings, my trap
Yoruba: Àti nínú èrè, òun ni pakute mi!
English: I said: Why didn't you content yourself with the beauties of his nature?
Yoruba: Mo sọ pé: Kí ló dé tí o kò fi ni tẹ́ lọ́rùn pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹwà ìwà rẹ̀?
