الْمَقَامَةُ الرَّحْبِيَّةُ

English: And at the moment of parting, he handed me a firmly sealed note.

Yoruba: Ní àkókò ìpínyà, ó fún mi ní ìwé kan tí a ti dí mọ́lẹ̀ dáadáa.

English: And said: Give this to the governor when peace is taken from him, and our escape is confirmed.

Yoruba: Ó sì sọ pé: Fún gómìnà náà ní èyí nígbà tí a bá gba àlàáfíà lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀, tí ìsálọ wa sì di mímọ̀.

English: So I opened it like one who slips away, as from the scroll of Al-Mutalammis.

Yoruba: Nítorí náà mo ṣí i bí ẹni tí ó ń yọ̀ lọ, gẹ́gẹ́ bí àkájọ ìwé ti Mutalammis.

English: And in it was written: Tell the governor I left him after our parting, regretful and remorseful, biting his hands.

Yoruba: Nínú rẹ̀ ni a kọ: Sọ fún gómìnà náà pé mo fi sílẹ̀ lẹ́yìn ìpínyà wa, ó kún fún ìbànújẹ́ àti ìrònú, ó ń gé ọwọ́ rẹ̀ jẹ.

English: The old man stole his wealth, and his youth stole his mind, so he burns in the flames of two regrets.

Yoruba: Àgbàlagbà náà jí ọrọ̀ rẹ̀, ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì jí làákàyè rẹ̀, nítorí náà ó ń jóná nínú ọwọ́ òfò méjì.

English: He was generous with his eye when his passion blinded his sight.

Yoruba: Ó ṣe ọ́rẹ pẹ̀lú ojú rẹ̀ nígbà tí ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ fọ́ ojú rẹ̀.

English: He turned away without eyes.

Yoruba: Ó pa dà láìsí ojú méjèèjì

English: Ease your sorrow, O afflicted one.

Yoruba: Rọ̀ ìbànújẹ́ rẹ, ìwọ ẹni tó ń jìyà.

English: Seeking the traces is futile after the eyes are gone.

Yoruba: Ṣíṣàwárí àwọn àmì kò ní jèrè lẹ́yìn tí ojú bá tí lọ.

English: And if what you faced was as great as what the Muslims faced in the calamity of Husayn.

Yoruba: Tí ohun tó dojú kọ ọ bá tóbi bí èyí tí àwọn Mùsùlùmí dojú kọ ní ìjàmbá Husain.
