Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Kí ni o ń dábàá tí mo lè tẹ̀lé?
English: And I won't oppose you in it.
Yoruba: Èmi kò ní takò ọ́ nínú rẹ̀.
English: He said: I think you should refrain from gossip and idle talk.
Yoruba: Ó sọ pé: Mo rò pé o yẹ kí o yẹra fún ọ̀rọ̀ asán àti ìsọkúsọ.
English: And settle for a hundred mithqals.
Yoruba: Kí o sì tẹ́wọ́ gba ọgọ́rùn-ún owo.
English: So that I may bear some of it.
Yoruba: Kí èmi lè ru apá kan rẹ̀.
English: And collect the rest for you as compensation.
Yoruba: Kí n sì gba ìyókù fún ọ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìsan padà.

Yoruba: Àgbàlagbà náà sọ pé: Èmi kò ní ìtakò.
English: So let there be no breaking of your promise.
