الْمَقَامَةُ الصَّنْعَانِيَّةُ

Like the halo surrounds the moon

Bí iletesu ṣe yí oṣùpá ká

And the husks surround the fruit

Àti bí epo ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ ṣe yí èso ká

So I approached him to acquire some of his benefits

Nígbà náà ni mo súnmọ́ ọ láti gbà díẹ̀ nínú àwọn àǹfààní rẹ̀

And to pick up some of his unique gems

Àti láti mú díẹ̀ nínú àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ iyebíye rẹ̀

Then I heard him say when he trotted in his domain

Nígbà náà ni mo gbọ́ tí ó ń sọ nígbà tí ó ń sọ̀rọ̀ nínú agbègbè rẹ̀

And the improvised speeches thundered

Tí àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ àìgbèrò rẹ̀ sì ń dún bí àrá

O you who are heedless in your extremism

Ìwọ tí o ń ṣe àìgbọ́ nínú àṣejù rẹ

Who lets down the garment of your pride

Tí o jẹ́ kí aṣọ ìgbéraga rẹ má wọlẹ

Who is unrestrained in your ignorance

Tí o ń ṣe àìgbọràn nínú àìmọ̀ rẹ

Who inclines towards your superstitions

Tí o fẹ́ràn àwọn ìgbàgbọ́ àìtọ́ rẹ
